To address these challenges, YUPO was selected as a material that provides waterproofness and durability for repeated use. Its reliability in enabling writing even when wet has been well received, leading to its use across a range of applications.
YUPO has been adopted for both the “Survey Field Notebook,” used in outdoor worksites such as construction sites, and the “SAUNABU Notebook,” designed for recording ideas in environments such as saunas and bathrooms. Both are note-taking tools used in wet or high-humidity conditions and are repeatedly handled with exposure to water as a given.
For the Survey Field Notebook, the ability to withstand rain and use around water was essential, requiring paper that does not become soggy and allows for reliable writing, along with durability. Similarly, the SAUNABU Notebook was designed to enable immediate note-taking in high-humidity environments such as during bathing or in saunas, where resistance to water was equally important.
YUPO, which does not swell when wet and allows writing with a pencil, was adopted for the Survey Field Notebook as a material that meets the needs of outdoor worksites, and has been used for over 40 years. Building on this proven track record, the SAUNABU Notebook was later developed, leading to the creation of a new application that enables note-taking even in wet environments.
