Products & Services

What is the difference between synthetic paper and regular paper?

The main differences lie in raw materials and properties. Regular paper is primarily made from wood pulp, whereas synthetic paper is made from synthetic resins. As a result, synthetic paper offers superior water resistance, durability, and chemical resistance. It has a paper-like appearance and can be printed on or written on depending on the application.

What is YUPO?

YUPO is a registered trademark of YUPO Co., Ltd. and represents our brand of creative substrates. It combines the printability and writability of paper with the water resistance and durability of film, making it suitable for a wide range of applications such as posters, labels, maps, and menus.

Does YUPO have any odor?

YUPO itself is almost odorless.
However, printed materials produced using oil-based offset printing with YUPO-specific inks may have a slight odor derived from the ink.
For applications where odor is a concern, please consider laminating the printed surface.

Is YUPO safe for food-related applications?

YUPO and YUPO Matte QJJ comply with the standards for food-contact materials (utensils, containers, and packaging) as specified by Japan's Ministry of Health Notification No. 370 (1959), excluding acidic foods with a pH of 5 or lower.
However, please avoid using it if there is a possibility of contact with acidic foods (e.g., through secondary use).
Additionally, suitability for food applications and hygiene control during printing and processing should be evaluated for each specific use case.

Does YUPO taste bitter?

Some individuals may perceive a bitter taste if YUPO is licked.
This is due to surface treatment agents and is not harmful to the human body.
However, as YUPO is not a food product, it should not be eaten or licked.
If there are concerns about bitterness in food packaging applications, consider applying a film laminate.

It leaves minimal adhesive residue and is commonly used for POP materials, posters, and in-store displays.
Suitability may vary depending on the substrate and usage environment, so prior evaluation is recommended.

What is YUPO in-mold labeling?

YUPO in-mold labeling (IM-L) is a labeling method in which the label is integrated with the plastic container during the molding process.
