Message from the President

Enhancing Lives for All
Delivering unique value only we can create

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support and partnership with YUPO Co., Ltd.

Our journey began in 1969 as a joint venture between Oji Paper Co., Ltd. (now Oji Holdings Corporation) and Mitsubishi Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (now Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation). Our founding mission was to develop a "dream material"--a synthetic alternative to traditional pulp-based paper.

Born from the need to address the social challenge of forest conservation, YUPO has navigated the economic shifts of the oil crisis and beyond. By combining the best characteristics of both paper and plastic, we have developed a unique functional material that creates new value across countless niche markets.

Marking our 50th anniversary in 2019, we established the "YUPO 100-Year Declaration." With this major milestone, we introduced our new corporate philosophy: "Enhancing Lives for All" and "Delivering unique value only we can create."
Today, we are taking a decisive step forward. We are evolving from a synthetic paper manufacturer into a Value Co-Creator--a partner that builds new value through our creative substrate, YUPO. In July 2026, we officially renamed our company YUPO Co., Ltd. and updated our brand logo. This shift refocuses our identity on the YUPO product itself as we begin a new chapter for the future.

This transformation is more than a visual update.
It is a revival of our core DNA: the ability to create value from nothing. By awakening this spirit, we aim to work alongside our customers, society, and our colleagues to create products, services, and experiences that spark genuine excitement.

"There is more that YUPO can do." With this conviction, we are committed to building the future together with you.
We remain dedicated to serving your needs and look forward to your continued partnership.

YUPO Co., Ltd.
President

The Origin of YUPO

The YUPO name

The name "YUPO" was born from an employee's idea to symbolize the partnership behind our founding. It connects the "YU" from Mitsubishi Yuka (now Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation) and the "O" from Oji Paper Co., Ltd. (now Oji Holdings Corporation) with the letter "P" for Paper.

Our logo

Our logo places the YUPO name at the center of a square, which symbolizes synthetic paper, integrated with an organic, flowing shape that expands outward. This design represents our evolution beyond the boundaries of traditional synthetic paper. It reflects our identity as a creative substrate with diverse functions and our commitment to being a high-creativity brand that inspires excitement for our customers, society, and ourselves.

The outward-reaching form also embodies our role as a Value Co-Creator. It illustrates our dedication to working hand-in-hand with customers and partners to build new value together.
